Communique Adopted At The End of AWLO INDUCTION 2017 held 15th December 2017

African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) Induction 2017 was a series of events namely; #1Mother1Child Awareness Walk, Leadership Workshop, and Induction Dinner & Awards on 15th December 2017.

The #1Mother1Child Awareness Walk is crucial in spreading the word about the #1Mother1Child initiative of AWLO to give children from poor backgrounds a fair chance at education. The walk constituted a huge turn up of women leaders and Young women of AWLO.

Shortly after the walk was Dr. Violet Arene’s session on the Power of Purpose Driven Leadership with women leaders. This enlightening hangout engaged women leaders in practical exercises, and discussions, as Arene inspired with countless nuggets. Such as:
“Self-Leadership is the prerequisite for leadership because the first person you lead is you. You are the first person who will throw yourself down, and the first person to take you to the mountain top.”

The evening was crowned by the AWLO Induction Dinner & Awards at Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort. This grand finale was graced by dignitaries from the first ladies of Akwa Ibom State and Sokoto State who were ably represented, to the Mother of the Day; Prof.(Dame) Uche Azikiwe -The wife of the first President of Nigeria.

This event was also a gathering of distinguished men and women in leadership who were being honored with the phenomenal woman or man of worth of 2017 Award. 18 Awardees in total. It was also the grand unveiling of the AWLO HeforShe movement; endorsed by about 20 men physically, and over 100 sign ups. The various chapters of Nigeria were also ably represented by their coordinators from all over Nigeria.

AWLO Founder; Dr. Elisha Attai who was proud to roll out the drums for AWLO’s accomplishments summarized AWLO’s feats in these encouraging words “Life will never give you permission to succeed, it answers to the bold and the courageous. So be prepared for greatness, to avoid returning to littleness or suffocation.”

Dr. Violet Arene; AWLO Global Youth Matron reiterated the AWLO mission of Leadership and Leadership Development, and core competency of Leadership Effectiveness.  To cap it she reaffirmed, “AWLO is a worthy platform for women to give back to the society. AWLO is making waves globally and there's no stopping her… she is actually working her talks.” She also noted AWLO’s gathered momentum in year 2017 evident in the acquired 501c status in the USA, and being signed up with the UN Global Compact.

The Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Glory Edet speaking at the occasion challenged women to be selfless, and to inspire others to impact their world from their little corners.

The night wasn’t complete without the induction rites for new members performed by the AWLO Secretary General & Legal Counsel; Barrister Emem Daniels. AWLO had 34 Inductees in year 2017, and the founder of AWLO Dr. Elisha Attai welcomed them to the organization after the decoration.

AWLO is now gearing up for her 10th Anniversary come July 2018 in Abuja.
