Kano State Procures 476 Solar Refrigerators For Routine Immunization

Kano State Government on Wednesday said it has procured and installed about 476 Solar direct drive refrigerators across the 484 wards of the state. This was made known by the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the opening of the 3rd Annual Disease Surveillance Review Meeting 2018, organized by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in Kano. Mr Ganduje, represented by his deputy, Professor Hafizu Abubakar said procurement of the refrigerators was to cover more than 95% of the 484 wards in order to strengthen delivery of routine immunization services to communities.

Nigerian Govt. to Fund Treatment of Additional 50,000 people living with HIV

According to Premium Times The federal government plans to provide funds for the treatment of an additional 50,000 people living with HIV in Nigeria every year, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has said. He said the plan is in line with the government’s commitment to continue to address challenges that constitute barriers to accessing HIV treatment in the country.

Corps Members Move Against Drug Abuse in Ogun

‎ Corps members under the aegis of Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, N‎ational Youths Service Corps have called on youths and secondary school students in Odeda local government area of Ogun State to shun drug abuse and abstain from immortal acts considered harmful by societal norms.  ‎ Speaking through comrade Afolabi Ismail, the SDGs' president and Taiwo Ifeoluwa, the corps members made the call while addressing scores of students at Egba Odeda High School along Abeokuta - Ibadan express road in the state, today. They sued for attitudinal change and supports for the group's aggressive campaign against misuse and abuse of drugs, themed: "War Against Drug Abuse." ‎

Junior Student Dies of Tramadol Overdose in Abia

Ogbonnaya Ikokwu, Umuahia The Abia State Commandant of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mr. Akindele  Akingbade, has disclosed that a Junior Secondary School student in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, whose identity has yet to be known, reportedly died after he allegedly took 10 tablets of Tramadol. Akingbade stated this on Wednesday in Umuahia while delivering a lecture at a seminar organised by his agency, Office of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Narcotics and Abia State Drug Abuse Control Committee.
