The Sedoo Initiative for Children with Special Needs, (Sechild) holds 5th anniversary in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja
According to the founder, Mrs Kawan Aondofa-Anjira, The Sedoo Initiative for Children with Special Needs (SECHILD) was founded in 2011 and her involvement with Cerebral Palsy began with the birth of her daughter Deborah Sedoo (of blessed memory) in 2005 and Joshua Aondofa in 2007, both born with Cerebral Palsy.
The absence of professional assistance and support centers for the specific condition of Sedoo (to whom this organization is named) and Aondofa have been the driving force behind this work and the inspiration to care for all children and families whose lives are forever changed by Cerebral Palsy.
As a mother of TWO children with Cerebral Palsy, I empathize with families in similar situation, in their pains, frustrations and hopelessness. Today we are creating a community of support and opportunities for these children, re-orienting those who see these children as gifts from the devil; that their indiscriminate killing shall be minimized. Every child is beautifully, purposely and uniquely created, she added.
Awards were presented to some distinguished personalities who have aided the organisation, some of the recipients includes the current minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, DR. HEMEN MICHAEL ATSER,DR. DENIS R. SHATIMA, DR. TERUNGWA ACHO, ARC. (DR) TERVER GEMADE, ENGR. TERHEMBA DAVID NONGO and many others.
