Punch gathered that the closed-door meeting held at Concorde Hotel in Owerri, was still ongoing when the three party chieftains Stormed out midway.
The meeting which was held “amidst tumultuous atmosphere from party faithful who had accompanied their leaders” and that it lasted for about two hours and 30 minutes and presided over by the state chairman, Hillary Eke.
The meeting, was allegedly boycotted by Governor Rochas Okorocha, who was reported to have insisted on a separate venue. The party’s publicity secretary in the state, Nwabueze Oguchienti, told journalists that at the meeting, issues bothering on internal democracy, the proposed local government election in June, 2018, and the party primary elections later in 2018 were discussed. “The meeting reached resolutions on internal democracy, discipline, peace and unity of the party. We want to position our party ahead of party primary,” Oguchienti said.

While Senators Izunaso, Araraume and Uwajiumogu did not speak about what transpired, the deputy governor of the state noted that it was the first SEC meeting of the party and that members are urged on massive mobilisation drive. The report quoted the deputy chief of staff to the governor, Kingsley Uju, as saying Okorocha was out of the country adding that those who stormed out did not mean well for the party.
