Vice President Yemi Osinbajo reads to students of L.E.A  Primary School, Life Camp, Abuja in the company of the Rainbow Book Club founder, Mrs Koko Kalango to mark the World Book and Copyright Day (April 23 rd ) 2018 To celebrate the 2018 UN World Book and Copyright Day, the Rainbow Book Club ran her ‘NIGERIA READS’ Programme at the L.E.A Primary School, Life Camp, Abuja. The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo read to the students from the book- The Legend: Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe in the company of the Rainbow Book Club Founder, Mrs Koko KalaNgo . Other dignitires in attendance were the Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu and the FCT Minister, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Bello, the UNESCO Country Director, Mr Ydo Yao Represented by Mr Ajaegbo.

CENTRE LSD CONTINUES CAPACITY BUILDING OF YOUTHS INTERESTED IN POLITICS IN THE NIGER-DELTA

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), a non-governmental and non-profit organization has taken up the gauntlet to build the capacity of youths interested in political offices in the Niger-Delta. The Centre shall from April 23rd -25th 2018 train 60 youths in Delta State. Penultimate week, it concluded the training of 47 youths in Edo State, where it apart from building their skills conscientize them to participate in active politics. The Edo trained youths eulogised the Centre and expressed optimism to participate in the 2019 elections by contesting and vying for different elective positions.

To celebrate the UN World Book & Copyright Day, the Rainbow Book Club (RBC) is organising a reading programme on the 23rd of April 2018. His Excellency, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof.  Yemi Osinbajo will read to students in a public primary school in Abuja, in company of the RBC founder, Mrs Koko Kalango. He will be reading  from The Legend Nelson Mandela by Dapo Adeleke.

NEWS REVIEW FOR APRIL 12, 2018 NEWS PAPERS THISDAY FG APPROVES N47BN FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF ABA-PORT HARCOURT, LAGOS-OTA ROADS, OTHERS The federal government yesterday approved contracts for three road projects at the total rate of N47 billion including the redesign and reconstruction of Aba-Port Harcourt road. Speaking at the end of seven-hour Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in the State House presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said the contract for Aba-Port Harcourt road portion of the Enugu – Port Harcourt road would cost N6.3 billion. He also said FEC approved N22 billion for the reconstruction of 81-kilometre Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Expressway and another N19.392 billion for the repair of 44.625-kilometre Baban-Lamba-Sharam road in Plateau State. Osun and Kogi, the Most Peaceful States in Nigeria - Nigeria Peace Index

Foundation for Peace Professionals (FPP), an independent Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) has publicly unveiled the much anticipated Nigeria Peace Index (NPI) research and the index came with some shocking revelation. Nigeria Peace Index (NPI) is the first national peace index in Nigeria focused on measuring peace tendencies through foundational indices. In the Nigeria Peace Index (NPI) publicly unveiled in Abuja  on Friday , Osun and Kogi State emerged as the 2 most peaceful states in Nigeria, followed by Ekiti, Kwara and Imo State, which emerged as 3rd, 4th and 5th most peaceful states respectively. The index also revealed that Yobe, Kebbi, Bauchi, Zamfara and Sokoto State are the five least peaceful states in Nigeria. This is apart from Borno State that was not considered in the research due to insufficient data and the Boko Haram red light.

South Africa plans April 14 State funeral for Winnie Mandela

The South African government has announced a state funeral for Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, a former wife of the country’s first black president, Nelson Mandela. “Freedom fighter Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela-Mandela will be laid to rest on 14 April 2018, during a state funeral,” a government statement read. Winnie, touted as mother of the nation, passed away on at Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg on Monday, April 1, after protracted illness.

Kano State Procures 476 Solar Refrigerators For Routine Immunization

Kano State Government on Wednesday said it has procured and installed about 476 Solar direct drive refrigerators across the 484 wards of the state. This was made known by the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the opening of the 3rd Annual Disease Surveillance Review Meeting 2018, organized by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in Kano. Mr Ganduje, represented by his deputy, Professor Hafizu Abubakar said procurement of the refrigerators was to cover more than 95% of the 484 wards in order to strengthen delivery of routine immunization services to communities.

MMM Shuts Down Operations Finally

The popular Ponzi scheme, Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox (MMM), has shut down it System and operations globally after the death of its founder,  Sergey Mavrodi. Mavrodi died on March 26, 2018, and his death put uncertainty in the face of MMM global participants when the System was put on  pause mode  to honour his exit.
